WORKSHOP AND CONCERT DETAILS

Two events are planned in Kingston on March 4, 2018.  The first event is an afternoon workshop where participants will rehearse two songs with the 50+ members of the Tuskegee Golden Voices Concert Choir, and the second event is an evening concert with the Golden Voices Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Wayne A. Barr.

Workshop – 2:00 to 4:00 pm (CANCELLED)

Dr. Wayne Barr and the Tuskegee Golden Voices Concert Choir will do a workshop for choral musicians on Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 2-4 pm at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 130 Clergy St. East, Kingston, ON .

Dr. Barr will warm us all up, demonstrate teaching and rehearsal techniques, and teach us Dawson’s rollicking Every Time I Fell the Spirit and Pittman’s stunning slow spiritual Any How.  (All sheet music will be provided.)  Workshop participants will get a personal and unique insight into the spiritual tradition and the context of this music, which has informed each of our choral music lives. They will rehearse in mixed ensemble with the Golden Voices Concert Choir preparing to sing these two songs in the opening of the evening concert.

At 6:30pm, those who participated in the afternoon workshop will arrive, in casual black and white, to reserve their seats in the house so they can be ready to take the stage for a 7:00 pm start.  After singing,  everyone will take their seats in the audience to enjoy the rest of the performance.
